Pike Central scored the game’s first 37 points, and the Lady Hawks went on to eliminate Phelps, 64-19, in the opening round of the girls’ 60th District tournament played at the Hawks Nest on Monday night.
The win puts the Lady Hawks (9-19) in Thursday’s title game against top-seeded Belfry (19-7). Game time is 7 pm. Both teams will advance to the regional tournament next week.
Hannah May led Central with a game-high 17 points and Emalie Tackett added 15. Alexis Taylor tossed in nine.
Amelia Casey scored seven and Jaycee Stanley chipped in six as the Lady Hornets (3-12).
