HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Golden Eagles win pair at Schoolboy Classic

Johnson Central won its first two games of the Mountain Schoolboy Classic before dropping its final matchup with Corbin at Belfry on Thursday.

The Golden Eagles beat Newport and Clay County.

Johnson Central closed out play in the Mountain Schoolboy Classic, falling to hot-shooting Corbin, 81-69, on Thursday.

Ryleh McKenzie and Grant Rice fired in 21 points each as the Golden Eagles dropped to 4-6. Ryan Rose added 11 points and Connor Lemaster net nine.

Johnson Central took charge early on and cruised to a 70-43 win over Clay County in the second round of the Mountain Schoolboy Classic played on Wednesday.

Ryan Rose finished with a double-double, scoring 15 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. Ryleh McKenzie continued his solid play with 14 points and Grant Rice tossed in 12
