HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL: Cougars top Jaguars; Golden Eagles fall

Letcher Central’s Jonah Little hit a solo home run and winning pitcher Canaan Cunniff added three hits to power the Cougars to a 5-1 victory over Floyd Central in a home game played on Tuesday night.

Ethan Brown singled and scored the Letcher Central improved to 18-15.

Wesley Prater had two hits and drove in the lone run for the Jaguars, who dropped to 12-17. Caleb Hager singled and scored and Brant Potter added two hits.

Jacob Bentley was the losing pitcher.

Johnson Central saw a five-run lead slip away as Boyd County rallied to beat the Golden Eagles, 7-6, in a game played on Tuesday night.

Preston Blankenship had three hits, including a triple, scored twice, and batted in two runs as the Hillbillies improved to 15-8. Josh Lambert singled and knocked in three runs while Caleb Blevins had two hits and scored two runs.
