HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Belfry tops Valley; Lawrence County wins in OT

Belfry overcame a slow start to run past short-handed Shelby Valley, 63-44, in a home game played on Tuesday night.

Kyera Thornsbury poured in a game-high 24 points as the Lady Pirates moved to 18-7. Cushi Fletcher followed with 17 and Linzee Phillips tossed in 11.

Alyssa Elswick paced the Lady Kats (11-9) with 21 points and Zoee Johnson added nine.

Lawrence County rallied in the fourth quarter against Morgan County to force overtime and the Lady Bulldogs scored a 77-71 win in a road game on Tuesday night.

Kensley Feltner had 31 points as Lawrence County improved to 16-9. Kaison Ward tallied 17 and Sophie Adkins net 14. Ellie Webb chipped in nine.
