HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Cougars knock off Tigers

Letcher Central quarterback Carson Adams put his team on his shoulders and carried the Cougars to an 18-7 win over Paintsville in a game played at Cougar Field on Friday night.

Adams passed for 111 yards and one touchdown and ran for 65 yards and two scores as Central moved to 5-1.

Receiver Sam Little hauled in two passes for 90 yards and one touchdown.

Jepatha Griffith led the defense with 18 tackles and Keaton Day followed with 14. Jackson Meade had one fumble recovery.

Paintsville quarterback Jake Hyden passed for 229 yards and he ran for the Tigers lone score. Running back Luke Hyden had 71 yards.

Devin Hall hauled in seven passes for 67 yards and Zach Taylor had three catches for 65 yards.

Karsten Poe had 17 tackles and Mason Lovely totaled 15. Devin Hall had an interception.

Paintsville will close out the regular season at home against Breathitt County (4-1) on Nov. 6. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

Letcher Central is idle until post-season play.
