HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Defending champs cruise past Simon Kenton

Johnson Central used a solid ground attack and solid defense to pull away and beat Simon Kenton, 47-17, in a game played at Independence on Friday night.

It was the 17th straight win for the Golden Eagles.

Running back Mason Lawson rushed for 114 yards and four touchdowns, including three on the ground, as the Golden Eagles improved to 2-0. Dillon Preston added 145 yards and one score.

Chase Price added a rushing touchdown to cap the scoring. The Golden Eagles finished with 533 total yards.

Johnson Central will play at Clay County (2-1) on Oct. 2. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
