Johnson Central advanced to the district title game with a 56-7 win over Clay County in the Class 4A playoff opener played at Jim Matney Field on Friday night.
The Golden Eagles, now 9-2, will host Letcher Central (7-3) on Nov 12. Kickoff s set for 7 pm.
Five different running backs scored at least one touchdown each in the win. Carter Conley ran for two scores on three carries and 48 yards.
Zack McCoart rushed for 106 yards and a score. Matt Crum, Chase Price and Landon Clark had a rushing touchdown each.
Quarterback Grant Rice came up big on the defensive side of the ball with a pick-six covering 75 yards.
Johnson Central has now beaten the Tigers in all seven meetings.
