HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Golden Eagles dominated in district win over Cougars

Johnson Central’s defense held Letcher Central to only 39 total yards as the Golden Eagles ran their winning streak to 21 straight games with a 62-0 win at Eagle Field on Friday night.

Quarterback Grant Rice passed for 105 yards to two touchdowns as the Golden Eagles moved to 6-0. He had tosses of 54 yards to Cameron Wright and a 25-yard scoring strike to running back Dillon Preston.

Preston also ran for 118 yards and two touchdowns. Bladen Sexton added 77 yards and one score while Wright added a 31-yard rushing touchdown. Zack McCoart had a 21-yard TD run.

Andrew Burchett returned a fumble back 41 yards for a score. Preston had a 30-yard pick six.

Johnson Central will host Belfry (5-2) on Oct. 30. Kickoff is set for 7:30pm.
