HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Golden Eagles roll past Devils in opener

Johnson Central dominated from start to finish as the Golden Eagles crushed Lexington Henry Clay, 60-21, in the season opener played on Friday night.

Quarterback Grant Rice opened the scoring with a 67-yard touchdown pass to Jacob Cain. Rice also hit Cain with a 21-yard scoring strike.

Running back Zack McCoart rushed 11 times for 104 yards and a pair of scores. Mason Lawson added 102 yards on 11 carries.

Matt Crum, Chase Price, and Jacob Grimm each had a rushing touchdown. Carter Conley recovered two fumbles, including one in the endzone for a score.

The defense limited the Devils to just eight rushing yards. Johnson Central finished with 392 on the ground and 88 yards through the air.

Johnson Central will play this coming Friday night on the road at Lexington Catholic (1-0).
