HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Golden Eagles soar past Tigers in district matchup

Johnson Central jumped out to a big lead early on and the Golden Eagles went on to defeat Clay County, 52-7, in a district game played at Jim Matney Memorial Field on Friday night.

Running back Zack McCoart ran for 211 yards and three touchdowns on 13 rushing attempts as Johnson Central improved to 5-2.

Mason Lawson added 86 yards and two scores on just eight carries. Receiver Caiden Yates hauled in a TD pass and Logan Castle returned an INT 85 yards for another.

The Golden Eagles will travel to Baxter to face Harlan County at Coal Miner’s Memorial Field on Friday night. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
