HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Ground game powers Johnson Central past Fern Creek

Johnson Central had nearly 500 yards in total offense, including 448 on the ground, as the Golden Eagles crushed Fern Creek, 55-19, in the Bluegrass Bowl matchup played at Lexington Catholic on Friday night.

Running back Carter Conley ran for 180 yards on 13 carries and four touchdowns as the Golden Eagles improved to 2-0. Backfield mate Zack McCoart had a big game as well with 132 yards and a touchdown on just eight rushing attempts. McCoart also hauled in a 45-yard TD pass from quarterback Jacob Grimm.

Mason Lawson added a 22-yard touchdown run and Logan Music added 74 yards n the ground and one score.

Johnson Central will play its third straight road game on Friday night in London against North Laurel (0-1). Kickoff is 7:30 pm.
