Pike Central’s off-season commitment to improve defensively has paid big dividends as the Hawks are off to a 3-0 start after stuffing out Harlan, 14-2, in a game played at the Hawks Nest on Friday night.
It’s the Hawks best start to a season since 2012.
Central’s Shannon Williams returned the second half kickoff for a score to snap a 0-0 tie. Quarterback Jamere Knuckles added a touchdown run. He had 67 yards on nine carries to lead the Hawks.
Malachi Anderson, Trevor Holbrook, and Ethan Adkins had double-digit tackles. The Hawks have held their first three opponents to 18 points total.
Pike Central will hit the road to Powell County (0-2) this Friday. Kickoff is 7:30 pm.
