Floyd Central won its second straight game and put themselves in a position to win a district championship following a 43-28 win over rival Prestonsburg at home on Friday night.
Colt Shelton ran for three touchdowns as the Jaguars improved to 5-3 and 2-0 going into next Friday night’s road game at Martin County (4-4) to determine the top seed.
Jace Martin finished with 86 yards on nine carries and scored a rushing touchdown. BJ Petersen and Jacob Johnson added a rushing touchdown.
Blackcat running back Dalton Elliott ran for 103 yards and a pair of touchdowns as Prestonsburg lost its third straight game.
Quarterback Bryce Holbrook tossed a touchdown pass to Jacob Rose. Alex Harris returned a kickoff back for a score.
Prestonsburg, now 4-4, will host Knott Central (2-6) on Friday. Kickoff from Josh Francis Memorial Field is set for 7:30 pm.
