HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Tigers turn back stubborn Warriors

Paintsville found itself in a battle with East Ridge on the Reservation on Friday night.

In the end, the Tigers were able to earn a hard-fought 28-16 win.

Quarterback Peyton Adams passed for 112 yards and a pair of touchdowns as Paintsville moved to 2-4 and snapped a two-game losing streak.

Running back Cain Grim ran for 130 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries. Receivers Anderson Lauffer and Lucas Howard had a TD reception each. Lauffer’s covered 90 yards.

East Ridge running back Steven Layne rushed for two scores, finishing with 57 yards on 16 carries.

Isaiah Adkins carried 11 times for 144 yards as the Warriors dropped to 3-3.

Both teams are back in action this Friday as the Warriors host Betsy Layne (6-0) while the Tigers host Hazard (1-6). Kickoff for both is set for 7:30 pm.
