HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Valley comeback falls short at West Carter in district opener

Shelby Valley entered the fourth quarter down by two touchdowns to defending district champion West Carter at Michael Ed Blankenship Stadium on Friday night.

The Wildcats scored twice in the game’s final three minutes, but a score sandwiched between carried the Comets to a 26-20 win over the Wildcats.

Valley quarterback Russ Osborne passed for 261 yards and one touchdown and rushed for 140 yards and two scores.

Ethen Bentley caught seven passes for 124 yards and a touchdown.
