East Ridge quarterback Landon Robinson ran for an early touchdown and Isaiah Adkins added the two-point conversion as the Warriors made it stand up in an 8-0 shutout win over Morgan County in the season opener played at the Reservation on Friday night.
Robinson, playing quarterback for the first time in his career, ran for 60 yards and passed for 63.
Adkins added 101 yards on 11 carries.
The defense forced four turnovers, picking off a pair of passes while recovering two fumbles. Jacob Ferran had one of each. Cole Ratliff had a fumble recovery and Robinson picked off a pass.
Gabriel May had 17 tackles and Stevie Layne finished with 14 in shutting down the Cougars.
East Ridge will return to action this Saturday night battling Prestonsburg in the Pike County Bowl at Pikeville. Kickoff is 6 pm.
