HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL: Floyd Central falls to Boyd County in Semi-State match

Floyd Central’s return to the state volleyball tournament was short lived as the 15th Region champions lost to Boyd County, 3-0, in a match played in Cannonsburg on Monday night.

It was their second appearance in three years.

Amelia Wallace had three kills, three blocks, 28 assists, 13 digs and one ace in the 25-18, 25-19 and 260-24 loss.

Jaydn Hall tallied 16 kills, 11 digs and three aces while Allyson Stumbo added 10 kills, two blocks and two aces. Emma Bailey tallied seven kills and three blocks and Skylar Paige added eight digs.

The Lady Jaguars finished 24-7, with two losses a result of COVID restrictions.

Floyd Central won close first and third sets to beat Paintsville, 3-0, to capture the regional championship in a match played at Johnson Central on Thursday night.

Amelia Wallace finished with seven kills, three blocks, 30 assists, 12 digs and three serving aces in the 25-23, 25-16 and 25-23 win.

Jaydn Hall totaled 12 kills and 14 digs while Allyson Stumbo added nine kills, one block, five digs and three aces.

Maddy Wade added 12 digs and Taylor Hamilton added 11.

Paintsville was led by Hailey Little’s 17 kills, two blocks and nine digs. Blair Ratliff totaled  nine kills and five blocks while Kynzi Slone finished with five kills, four blocks, 27 assists and nine digs.
