Lawrence County battled back in the closing minutes of regulation to force overtime and the Bulldogs slipped past Betsy Layne, 70-67, in the 58th District tournament title game played on Thursday night.
The Bulldogs, now 18-14, won their first championship since 2020. The Bobcats fell to 19-10.
Andrew Bloomfield led all scorers with 23 points and Hayden Perry tossed in 19 and Blake Marcum tallied 12. Will Lafferty chipped in eight.
Andrew Kidd paced Betsy Layne with 17 points and Brady Robinson followed with 16. Cameron Pente net 14 while Carson Parsons and Byron Tackett added eight each.
Both teams move on to the 15th Region tournament next week in Pikeville.
