59TH DISTRICT TOURNAMENT: Pikeville wins back-to-back titles

Pikeville used a balanced scoring attack and solid defensive play to take down Shelby Valley, 55-35, in the boys’ 59th District tournament championship played at East Ridge on Thursday night.

The Panthers, now 20-7, won its second straight championship and advance to the 15th Region as a number one seed. The Wildcats dropped to 18-9 and move on as a number two seed.

Rylee Samons scored a game-high 20 points while Charlie Fitzer followed with 12. Josh Hughes net 11 and Eli Johnson tallied 10.

Chaz Brown scored 11 for the Wildcats. Caleb Lovins and Preston Johnson added nine each.
