59TH DISTRICT TOURNAMENT: Wildcats pull away, eliminate Panthers

Shelby Valley held Pikeville to just 15, second-half points as the Wildcats punched their ticket to the boys’ 59th District tournament championship game with a 71-48 win at T.W. Oliver Memorial Gymnasium on Tuesday night.

The Wildcats, now 16-7, will face top-seed East Ridge (14-8) on Thursday night. Both teams will move onto regional play next week.

Pikeville’s season ends at 12-12.

Kaden Robinson led three Wildcats in double figures with a game-high 26 points. Keian Worrix followed with 17 and Zack Johnson net 16. Russ Osborne chipped in eight.

Nick Robinson had 16 to lead Pikeville. Alex Rogers tossed in 13 and Laithan Hall added nine.
