Johnson Central’s injury-riddled football team still found a way to climb back on top.
A bruising ground game carried the Golden Eagles to a 36-33 win over previously-unbeaten Ashland Blazer in the district title game played at Jim Matney Memorial Field on Friday night.
Johnson Central continued its dominance of the Tomcats, winning for the 10th time in 11 games.
Running backs Logan Morrow and Carter Conley rushed for over 100 yards each as the Golden Eagles wrapped up regular season play at 7-3. Morrow finished with 119 and Carter had 105.
Logan Music and Morrow had a pair of rushing touchdowns while Carter reached paydirt once.
Johnson Central will host Grant County (3-7) in the opening round of the Class 4A playoffs on Nov. 3.
