Mingo Central’s football season was officially put on hold Monday night as the county health department, working closely with the county board of education, issued a stoppage of play and practice.
Health officials explained with the pandemic outbreak at the school, and the governor’s guidelines for counties under orange, the Miners are sidelined.
The county will continue to monitor the situation at the school and continue to stress the importance of wearing masks and social distancing.
School personnel has been directed to stay home Tuesday and will return to work on Wednesday.
All those identified to date with the outbreak have been contacted.
The Miners will likely not play at Point Pleasant on Sept. 11.
