HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Miners escape Big Blacks for sixth win

Mingo Central’s defense made big plays and a fumble recovery in the endzone in the fourth quarter was the difference maker as the Miners beat Point Pleasant, 20-14, at Ohio Valley Bank Stadium on Friday night.

Running back Dylan Vance had a pair of rushing touchdowns as the Miners moved to 6-1 overall heading into a bye week.

Malaki Sheppard forced a fumble that was recovered by Aiden Burke for the game-winning points. The Miners preserved the win with a sack on the final play of the game.

Mingo Central will return to Miner Mountain to face top-ranked Roane County (6-0) on Oct. 20. Kickoff is set for 7 pm.
