HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Miners solidify playoff berth with win over Tigers

Mingo Central locked up a Class AA playoff  berth with a 50-6 road win over Chapmanville at Barker Stadium on Friday night.

The Miners improved to 7-2 and will close out the regular season against Mount View (1-7) at Buck Harless Stadium on Friday night. 

Running back Dylan Vance rushed for two touchdowns and quarterback Chris Ross tossed three scoring passes, including a pair to Malaki Sheppard. Ross finished with 286 yards.

Sheppard had four catches for 133 yards. He also returned an interception 52 yards for a touchdown.

Aiden Burke added a TD catch and returned a punt 76 yards to paydirt.

Chapmanville, now 4-5, will host Man (7-2) on Friday. Kickoff is 7 pm.
