COLLEGE BASKETBALL: UPIKE men’s tourney run ends in semifinal OT loss

It was another UPIKE-Georgetown classic in the Mid-South Conference tournament on Sunday evening.

The Bears and Tigers battled into overtime before Georgetown pulled away for a 90-81 win in the semifinals played at Bowling Green High School.

Teddy Parham Jr. finished with a game-high 30 points as the Bears dropped to 19-12. Mark Vance Jr. followed with 13 and Korbin Spencer tallied 10.

UPIKE now waits to see if it earns at at-large bid to the national tournament.

The University of Pikeville knocked off Shawnee State University to move into the semifinals with a 79-72 quarterfinal round win on Saturday.

Teddy Parham Jr. fired in a game-high 34 points and Bradley Bunch added 16. Keian Worrix net 13.

The University of Pikeville women basketball Bears fell behind early to Georgetown and lost, 80-69, in the Mid-South Conference quarterfinals played on Saturday.

The loss dropped the Bears to 21-8, but should be good enough to earn an at-large bid in the national tournament.

Allie Stone led three players in double figures with 18 points and Mary Englert followed with 15. Bailey Frazier net 11.
