COLLEGE BASKETBALL: UPIKE women bounce KCU, now 2-1

The University of Pikeville women’s basketball team jumped out to a big lead early on and the Bears cruised to a 105-50 Appalachian Athletic Conference win over Kentucky Christian University at the Appalachian Wireless Arena on Tuesday night.

UPIKE improved to 2-1 overall while the Knights fell to 0-3.

Allie Stone fired in a game-high 24 points and Bailey Frazier added 15. Morgan Stamper followed with 12 and India Blyth added 10. Bailey Birchfield chipped in eight.

The Bears will return to action on the road at Reinhardt University (4-0) on Saturday. Game time at 5:30 pm.

Pikeville struggled offensively against Milligan and the Bears dropped a 78-64 outcome in a game played at the UPIKE Gymnasium on Saturday.

Allie Stone was the only UPIKE player to score in double figures, scoring a game-high 26 points. India Blyth tossed in nine and Morgan Stamper chipped in eight.
