COLLEGE FOOTBALL: Kirkland’s record-setting play powers Bears past Union

University of Pikeville quarterback Lee Kirkland passed for 614 yards and six touchdowns as the Bears knocked off Union College, 52-10, in the program’s first-ever Appalachian Athletics Conference played at the Hambley Athletic Complex on Saturday.

He had TD oases of 13, 6, 86, 31, 5, and 21 yards as UPIKE improved to 3-2 overall.

Receiver Derrick Griffith caught 10 passes for 223 yards and two touchdowns. Alex Sanders and D’Andre Stafford added two touchdown receptions each.

The Bears will be back in action at Reinhardt University (2-2) on Saturday. Kickoff is 1:30 pm.
