COLLEGE FOOTBALL: Bears drop home opener

The University of Pikeville Bears managed just a single offensive touchdown and Campbellsville scored on the first play of the final quarter to escape with a 14-13 win to spoil UPIKE’s home opener played on Friday.

Quarterback Trevon Wofford passed for 194 yards and one touchdown and rushed for 105 yards as the Bears dropped to 0-2.

Receiver Arties Clark hauled in a nine-yard touchdown pass in the opening period to put UPIKE up 6-0. He had five catches for 63 yards.

Chris Dublin returned the second-half kickoff 92 yards to push the Bears up 13-7.

The Bears will return to action on March 12 at home against Thomas More (2-1). Kickoff is set for 5 pm.
