COLLEGE FOOTBALL: Bears rally late to stun Campbellsville in opener

University of Pikeville quarterback Lee Kirkland scored on a one-yard run with 18 seconds remaining and kicker Jakob Hedley nailed the game-winning PAT as the Bears rallied to knock off Campbellsville, 28-27, in the season opener on Saturday night.

Running back Alex Sanders had 137 yards and three touchdowns on 27 attempts. He had runs of 2, 29 and 6 for scores.

Receiver Diego Soto caught 10 passes for 98 yards. Kirkland completed 16 of 30 passes for 197 yards.

The Bears will open the home schedule on Saturday night against the University of the Cumberlands (1-0). Kickoff is 6 pm.
