UPIKE women’s golf opened spring play on Sunday, placing second in the Saints Invitational hosted by Thomas More University.
Veteran senior Boo Newsome claimed her 10th career collegiate title, beating the runner-up by three strokes with a 77 (+5).
Thomas More earned the team title out of the three Mid-South Conference schools with a score of 330 (+42). Georgetown carded a team total of 360 (+72) to finish third.
Newsome opened play with a bogey on the first hole before shooting for par on the second and notching her first birdie on hole three.
Newsome managed two more birdies before the turn and sat and one stroke under par after nine holes played. After a string of bogeys in the final stretch,
Newsome wrapped up her title performance with a 77 (+5).
