HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL: Bulldogs rough up Devils; Dores top Panthers

Lawrence County erupted for eight runs in the bottom of the second inning and the Bulldogs cruised to an 11-1 win over Russell in a home game played on Tuesday night.

Ethan Whitt had three hits, including a double, and drove in three runs while scoring once as the Bulldogs improved to 21-4. Abner Collinsworth doubled, singled, scored two runs and batted in two.

Nick Collinsworth singled in a pair of runs and scored and Braydan Maynard singled in one run and scored twice.

Will Lafferty was the winning pitcher.

Perry Central pushed across four runs in the bottom of the first inning and went on to beat Pikeville, 6-2, in a game played at Commodore Field on Tuesday night.

Wade Hensley took the loss for the Panthers, now 14-13.

Dylan Thompson belted a solo home run in the second inning and Wade Hensley doubled in Jake Lowe for Pikeville’s only other run.

Floyd Central pounded out 15 hits and winning pitcher Caleb Hager scattered three as the Jaguars rolled to an 11-1 win over Martin County at Jaguar Field on Tuesday night.

Brant Potter had four hits, including a double, scored three times and knocked in a pair of runs as the Jaguars moved to 11-14. Kadin Moore added three hits and batted in three runs while scoring.

Hager doubled, singled, walked and drove in one run. Max Martin added two hits and scored.

Losing pitcher Dylan Fitch had two hits, including a double, as the Cardinals dropped to 10-16. Evan Crum reached and scored.

Belfry grabbed the lead early on against Johnson Central and the Pirates cruised to a 14-3 road win in a game played at Eagle Field on Tuesday night.

Winning pitcher Ashton Deskins had a big game. He had four hits, including a home run and double, scored twice and drove in five runs as the Pirates improved to 16-11. Jonathan Banks and Isaiah Stanley each knocked in a pair of runs. Stanley scored three times. Steven Banks added four hits.

Keegan Pelfrey singled in one run and scored for the Golden Eagles, now 17-11. Hunter Blevins was the losing pitcher.
