HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL: Hillbillies off to 3-0 start

Man continued its hot start to the 2022 season as the Hillbillies rolled to an 18-0 road win over Tolsia on Thursday night.

The Hillbillies, now 3-0, pounded out 17 hits, including seven for extra bases.

Caleb Blevins belted a home run, doubled, scored a pair of runs, and batted in four while Brady Hall-Montgomery was a long ball shy of hitting for the cycle. He finished with four RBIs.

Colton Miller had two doubles, singled, scored three times and knocked in two runs.

Winning pitcher Peyton Blankenship singled, walked and added a pair of RBIs.

Man jumped ahead of Mingo Central, and the Hillbillies cruised to a 17-0 win in a game played at Tootie Carter Field on Tuesday night.

Starting pitcher and winner Braxton Messer fanned 11 Miners as the Hillbillies moved to 2-0. He allowed just two hits.

Brady Hall-Montgomery had a big game at the plate, with three doubles while driving in four runs and scoring three times. Jace Adkins tripled twice, scored two runs, and drove in a pair.

Preston Blankenship doubled in two runs while Bo Thompson doubled, singled, scored and added an RBI. Caleb Vance scored three runs and added a pair of RBIs.

Chris Ross and Tyler Mitchem each singled in the loss. Aiden Dove was tagged with the loss.

Man scored four times in the top of the third inning and the Hillbillies held on to edge Scott, 4-3, in the season opener played in Madison on Monday night.

Bo Thompson went the distance to earn the win. He scattered eight hits while striking out six.

Preston Blankenship had two hits, one a double, and drove in two runs. Brady Hall-Montgomery added two singles and batted in one. Jace Adkins tripled, singled, scored and had an RBI. Drake Veres collected three hits, including a double and scored.
