HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL: Man shows no mercy on Sherman in sectional title game

Man pounded out 11 hits and starting pitcher Ryan Cozart scattered three as the Hillbillies ran away with the Class A, Region IV, Section 1 championship with an 11-0 mercy rule win over Sherman in the game played at William “Tootie” Carter Field on Tuesday night.

Cozart fanned seven batters and did not allow a walk as the Hillbillies, now 19-8, advance to the Region IV championship against Wahama, winners of Section 2. The two will open the best of three series at Man on Monday night. First pitch is 6 p.m.

Caleb Blevins had a big night at the plate. He hit a leadoff home run in the first inning, doubled in the third, walked twice, scored three runs, and drove in three. Preston Blankenship collected a pair of singles and knocked in three runs while scoring twice.

Josh Lambert singled and batted in two runs while Cam Frye added three singles, scored two runs, and added an RBI. Cozart walked twice, scored, and had an RBI.

Man has now won nine straight games.
