HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Ball’s two-handed, slam dunk caps Man’s first-ever hoops championship

Top-seeded Man found themselves down 36-32 with less than three minutes to play to third-seeded and unbeaten Pendleton County in the Class A title game at the Charleston Coliseum Saturday morning.

The Hillbillies turned the switch on offensively, going on an 11-0 run, including a two-handed, slam dunk by Austin Ball to cap the scoring, as Man rallied for a 43-36 come-from-behind win over the Wildcats to capture the school’s first-ever basketball championship.

Man snapped the Wildcats’ 40-game winning streak. The Hillbillies finished the season at 16-2.

Ball finished with 20 points and Jackson Tackett added 11 to lead the way.
