HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Bobcats top Lewis County; Panthers get past Royals

Betsy Layne built a double-digit, halftime lead and went on to beat Lewis County, 70-57, in a road game played on Saturday.

Shawn Howell led a balanced attack with 24 points and Brady Robinson followed with 20 as the Bobcats moved to 2-0.

Jordan Frazier, playing in his first game since a season-ending injury one year ago, scored 16.

East Ridge’s fourth-quarter comeback fell short as Chapmanville defeated the Warriors, 51-47, in the championship game of the Bob Runyon Holiday Tournament on Saturday night.

Eli Sykes paced East Ridge, now 2-1, with 15 points. Braxton Stanley finished with nine while Isaac Woods and Eli Rose added eight apiece.

Zion Blevins led the Tigers (2-0) with 15 points. Brody Dalton tallied 10.
