HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Hornets fall in 2A state tourney; JC tops PCC

Magoffin County was knocked out of the opening round of the Kentucky 2A State Tournament as Mason County downed the Hornets, 72-62, in a game played in Owensboro on Friday.

Aden Barnett fired in a game-high 34 points for the Hornets. Zane Whitaker and Grayson Whitaker tossed in 12 each.

Ryan Rose had 21 points and 13 points to finish with a double-double in the win. Adam Slone finished with 14 points and Jacob Grimm tossed in nine.

Jaylan Rigdon tossed in 24 points for the Hawks.

Charlie Fitzer and Eli Johnson poured in a game-high 29 points each and Rylee Samons added 16 in the win.

Brady Robinson led the Bobcats in scoring with 22 points. Carter Parsons net 15 and Andrew Kidd tallied 11.
