HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Logan girls reach semifinals; Mingo Central falls

Logan turned up the defensive pressure in its Class AAA state tournament opener against PikeView and the Lady Wildcats went on to score a 61-30 victory at the Charleston Civic Center Coliseum on Wednesday night.

The Lady Wildcats, now 12-3, move into the semifinals against unbeaten Fairmont Senior (16-0) on Friday night.

Abbie Myers poured in 20 points to lead a balanced attack. Peyton Ilderton followed with 16 while Raegan Quick chipped in nine.

Class AA power Wyoming East turned up the heat on Mingo Central and rolled to a 60-32 win over the Lady Miners in the state tournament matchup played Wednesday afternoon at the Charleston Civic Center Coliseum.

Cara Curry fired in 13 points for the Lady Miners, who saw their season end at 9-5. Scarlett Thomason followed with 11 and Jenna Wagoner tossed in eight.
