HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Panthers edge Wildcats in All ‘A’ championship

Pikeville’s Latihan Hall hit a three-point basket with 45 seconds left in the game to give the Panthers a thrilling 41-40 victory over Shelby Valley in the 15th Region boys’ All A Classic championship at the Appalachian Wireless Arena on Friday night.

Pikeville won its sixth tournament and first since 2018. The Panthers improved to 4-1 while the Wildcats lost for the first time in four games.

Rylee Sammons paced the Panthers with 17 points while Lukas Manns and Hall added nine apiece.

Valley’s Keian Worrix led all scorers with 25 points. Zach Johnson tossed in eight.
