HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: P’Burg, Pikeville, Phelps score wins

Prestonsburg took charge at the outset and never looked back in rolling to an 82-42 win over Jenkins in a road game played on Thursday night.

Caleb Lawson scored 13 points off the bench to lead the Blackcats (7-8) while Jacob Martin and Will Gullett followed with 11 each. Kaleb Jarvis had 10 and Ryan Rose net eight.

Austin Johnson took game-high scoring honors for the Cavaliers, who dropped to 2-6. Keegan Bentley, Kolby Stewart, and Trevor Davis scored eight each.

Pikeville continued its hot shooting as the Panthers ran past Martin County, 7950, in a game played at T.W. Oliver Memorial Gymnasium on Thursday night.

Laithan Hall poured in a game-high 23 points as the Panthers improved to 10-7. Nick Robinson tossed in 17 and Alex Rogers added 11.

Brady Dingess led the Cardinals (5-10) with 16 points. Jacob Butcher and Parker Davis net eight each.
