HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Pikeville rolls past Belfry; Cougars fall to Bobcats

Pikeville used a solid second-half performance to pull away and beat Belfry, 80-53, in a game played at T.W. Oliver Memorial Gymnasium on Thursday night.

.Rylee Samons paced the Panthers, now 6-3, with a game-high 23 points. Nick Robinson followed with 17 while Laithan Hall net 11 and Lukas Manns tossed in 10.

Sal Dean led the Pirates, now 4-5, with 17 points and Ben McNamee added 12. Tyler Chaffin and DeMahjae Clark chipped in eight apiece.

Letcher Central struggled at the outset of the second half and Breathitt County took the lead and went on to beat the Cougars, 71-64, in a game played on Thursday night.

Bodie Bentley fired in 23 points to pace the Cougars (6-5) while Nigel Nichols tallied 10 and Joby Johnson net nine.
