Tug Valley was an unstoppable force all week long in the Class A girls’ state tournament.
The top-seeded Lady Panthers grabbed the lead against No. 2 Cameron in the second period and never looked back in a dominating performance, beating the Lady Dragons, 63-45, at the Charleston Coliseum on Saturday.
Tug Valley, which finished 15-2, was never really challenged, having beaten Pendleton County (67-24) and Tucker County (49-31) on the road to winning the school’s first-ever championship .
Kaylea Baisden fired in a game-high 25 points and had 75 in three games, nearly double of any other player. Alyssa Newsome and Makayla May added 15 each. May finished with a double-double by grabbing 11 rebounds.
