HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Warriors top Panthers in shootout; LCC beats Leslie

East Ridge ended a 13-game losing streak to Pikeville as the Warriors scored a 95-83 victory in the 59th district matchup played on the Reservation Thursday night.

The Warriors, now 5-3, landed four players in double-figure scoring, led by Isaac Woods’ team-high 31 points. Eli Sykes followed with 26 while Hunter Damron tossed in 16 and Braxton Stanley added 13.

Pikeville, which dropped to 5-2, was paced by Rylee Samons’ 50-point performance.

Letcher Central used a big fourth quarter to pull away and beat Leslie County, 65-51, in a game played at LCCHS Gymnasium on Thursday night.

Bodie Bentley paced the Cougars, now 6-3, with 18 points while Joby Johnson followed with 16. Kaden Adams chipped in nine.
