HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Worrix named POY; Justice nabs coaching honor

No single player had more of an impact on his team as much as Pikeville senior Keian Worrix.

His decision to return for another year was the missing link needed to get the Panthers back to the Sweet 16 tournament.

Worrix was honored by being named the Mountain Top Sports Player of the Year, announced on Wednesday. He averaged 11.2 points per game.

The first team includes Martin County standout Brady Dingess. The senior was chosen captain after averaging 26.4 points per game while leading his team to the 57th District championship and berth in the 15th Region semifinals.

Worrix’s teammate Rylee Samons (15.4 ppg.) and Nick Robinson (13.2 ppg.) were first-team picks.

The second team captain is Pike Central’s Jaylan Rigdon.

Team members include Pikeville’s Laithan Hall, Lawrence County’s Trenton Adkins, East Ridge’s Isaac Woods, Betsy Layne’s Chase Mims, Paintsville’s Connor Fugate, Johnson Central’s Ryleh McKenzie, East Ridge’s Eli Sykes, Magoffin County’s Aden Barnett, and Martin County’s Jordan Dalton.
