HIGH SCHOOL: Betsy Layne volleyball, golf suspended following a positive test

A faculty member at Betsy Layne High School has tested positive for COVID-19, thus forcing school administrators to suspend high school volleyball and golf for the next 14 days.

School and Floyd County Health Department officials are encouraging parents to monitor their children. If symptoms development they are asked to take them for testing.

The staff member was not involved in back-to-school activities.

Betsy Layne volleyball was scheduled to open the season at home against Lawrence County on Sept. 8. They would be able to return to action at Pikeville on Sept. 12.
