Belfry built a 21-point halftime lead, and the Pirates went on to beat Magoffin County, 42-12, in a district game played in Salyersville on Friday night.
All-purpose back Caden Woolum rushed for 228 yards and three touchdowns, including an 87-yard TD to open the scoring. He added runs of 40 and 29 yards. He also passed to Ace Caudill for a short touchdown.
Running backs JJ Austin and Dre Young had a rushing touchdown each. Austin ran for 94 yards.
Magoffin County quarterback Aden Barnett tossed a pair of touchdown passes. He passed for 77 yards.
Both teams are back in action on Friday night. The Pirates (3-3) host Lawrence County (4-1) while the Hornets (1-4) host Powell County I(1-4). Both games are set for 7:30 pm.
