Belfry took charge early on and the defending state champions rolled to a 54-12 win over Magoffin County in the opening round of the Class 3A playoffs played at Haywood Stadium on Friday night.
The Pirates, now 6-3, will host Lawrence County (4-1) on Nov. 27 in the district championship game.
Mr. Football candidate Isaac Dixon had just three carries for 115 yards and three touchdowns. He also had a 51-yard reception for a score and had a 46-yard punt return.
Brenden Rash, Dre Young and Chris Phillips each rushed for a score.
Belfry finished with 354 total yards, including 303 on the ground. Coleman’s only pass was the throw to Dixon for the score.
Magoffin County quarterback Lucas Litteral tossed a pair of touchdowns. Fifty-six yards to Zach Conley and a 24-yard strike to Aden Barnett late in the final quarter.
The Hornets finished 3-4.
