HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Defending champs cruise into second round

Pikeville delivered the knockout blow early on Senior Night as the defending Class 1A champions rolled to a 63-0 win over Lynn Camp in the opening round of the playoffs at Hillard Howard Field on Friday night.

The Panthers, now 8-2, will host Harlan (8-3) this coming Friday. Kickoff is set for 7:30 pm.

Running back Blake Birchfield ran for a pair of scores in the first quarter while Isaac Coleman and Ryan Harris ran for one each.

Quarterback Isaac Duty and backup Hayden Damron tossed a pair of touchdown passes each. Receivers Westin Bevins, Grant Scott, Wade Hensley, and Adam Coleman hauled in one apiece.

Sam Wright returned a punt back 40 yards to paydirt.
