HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Defending champs steamroll Harlan

Two-time defending Class 1A champion Pikeville scored 36 points in the opening quarter and went on to beat Harlan, 49-6, in the opening round playoff game played at Hillard Howard Field on Friday night.

The Panthers improved to 8-2 and next host Williamsburg (6-4) this coming Friday. Kickoff is set for 7:30 pm.

Quarterbacks Isaac Duty and JJ Reynolds each passed for a pair of touchdowns. Receivers Brayden Reed, Tayvian Boykins, Sam Wright, and Quentin Warren hauled in a TD reception each.

Running back Isaiah Stanley ran for a score and returned a fumble for another.
