HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: East Ridge wins wild Armed Forces Bowl

East Ridge had just enough offensive power to outgun Waggener, 40-34, in the first-ever Armed Forces Bowl played on the Reservation on Friday night.

Quarterback Dylan Burdine passed for 220 yards and four touchdowns, including a pair to Zack Mason, who hauled in six passes for 90 yards. Receivers Steven Layne and running back Isaiah Adkins had TD catches of 33 and six yards.

Adkins finished with 111 yards on 13 rushing attempts and one touchdown. Layne also ran for one score.

The Warriors will play Harlan in the 37th annual Pike County Bowl at Belfry’s Haywood Stadium on Aug. 26. Kickoff is  6 pm.
