HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: JC remains No. 1; Panthers climb to second in Super 7

Johnson Central remained the top ranked team in the latest Mountain Top Sports Super 7 football poll released on Tuesday.

The Golden Eagles opened the season with a big road win over Henry Clay.

Pikeville leaped to second after knocking off rival Paintsville. The Panthers are followed by Letcher Central, which moved up two spots after the Cougars impressive win over Shelby Valley.

Lawrence County, unranked in the preseason poll, vaulted to No. 4, followed by Belfry in fifth. The Bulldogs rolled past Harrison County while the Pirates suffered a big road loss at Pulaski County.

Pike Central maintained its No 6 ranking following a road win at Pendleton County. Rounding out the poll at No. 7 is Paintsville.

Receiving votes this week are East Ridge, Shelby Valley, Tug Valley, Man and Betsy Layne.
